Question using toshiba laptop without screen Question Acer Helios 300 (2019) won't turn on after screen replacement Question Laptop without screen shuts down after 30 secs Question Laptop screen: Vertical lines and flashing bottom. I reseated the hard drives (it was a suggestion a friend of mine made which made no sense but I was willing to try anything that wouldn't be damaging and reseating isn't.) I have tried tapping the del button several times and the ctrl button several times right after powering on and that didn't change anything though I may have not follow the instructions correctly.ĭo you have any suggestions on what is left or is going under the keyboard of the laptop my only option to reach the motherboard jumper or the CMOS battery which is the only two things I haven't tried as I don't quite trust myself with tearing my laptop apart to get that deep. ![]() The steps I have tried so far are taking the battery off and taking the AC adapter off and holding the power button for 30 seconds to 1 minute then plugging back with no changes occuring. The laptop is an ASUS G75VW with an Intel i7 motherboard and Geforce GTX 660M running Windows 7. The laptop has a new motherboard and a new graphics card installed by an IT professional and everything was working smoothly so the parts themselves are fine. Just no POST screen AND no splash screen (meaning the ASUS screen as wasn't sure if that's also the POST screen or separate, just making sure I cover as much as I can). Now after doing that, the laptop will turn on and I hear noises and the keyboard lights up for a few seconds and the cd drive runs and the fan is running. Before that, Windows load perfectly fine and the laptop would be able to go into POST and then boot correctly and smoothly. It should show up under Windows Programs and Features as the ATK Package once installed.Īlso, check the other 'Fn' keys like Fn+F11/F12 for volume or Fn+F9 (touchpad software/driver needs to be installed too though) to toggle the touchpad on and off, but some things are more dependent on the ATK driver than others.ĭon't expect it should be too big of a deal, but if you're paranoid about software like me, you may want to back-up and prepare for the worst before updating, or create a Windows System Restore point at least.I made a mistake of going into the bios and clicking on load optimized defaults and save changes as I was trying to adjust some settings (I was being impatient fooling around instead of waiting for the new replacement battery). Make sure the ATKACPI driver Version V (under the 'utilities' section?) has been installed from the ASUS G75VW Win8 download site Your hardware should be okay at least if the keyboard lights flash at boot, so we just need to work on the software. Unit has latest bios updates was upgraded from win 7 to win 8 then 8.1. My G75VW keyboard lights on boot then shuts off & is unresponsive to keyboard light function keys. This is a "voodoo" solution - I can't think of *any* reason why this condition changed anything, but for me it did. I'm back at work with it plugged in again and it's still working. ![]() anyways, I took the unit home at the end of the day and left the power supply on my desk.Īt home I powered up using just the battery and the keyboard backlighting started working fine. I was doing all this at work and I had to stop messing with the machine because of, you know, that whole thing where they expect me to write code for them in exchange for money. You tried to replicate it at your end but couldn't get it going and we were talking about an RMA for a return. I did the uninstall ATK/reboot/uninstall keyboard driver/reboot/install latest ATK/reboot/install latest keyboard driver/reboot thing a couple times, then upgraded the BIOS from 207 to 223 and tried it all again, then contacted you and did the uninstall/reboot thing again a couple more times and it didn't work. The punchline is that as of this morning it's working again but I don't understand quite why. Thanks for all your help yesterday on my new G75VW's keyboard-backlighting problem.
